People differ from each other. Some overthink while some are easy going. Some can handle the pressure while some crumble inside. So, what makes a person different from the other? There must be some personal traits or qualities that differentiate one individual from another. 

There are people who talk to themselves while others do not even know what they are until realized by someone else. Some people do not always motivate others to do something but they also motivate themselves. This is self-motivation.

Self-motivation is a simple way to keep yourself motivated even in difficult situations. We can motivate ourselves and we do not need others to motivate us. But the question arises, how we keep ourselves buckled up all the time. Let’s find out.

Motivation is the force that drives us in achieving the goals of our lives and keep us moving. Lack of motivation leads to unfinished goals, lack of zeal in life, and self interest. 

Either we can motivate ourselves or get motivated by others. It is easy to get motivated by the speeches of motivational speakers or motivational quotes. But such a motivation does not last longer. Once we get busy in our lives or daily routine, we tend to forget what someone else taught us or said to us. On the other hand, if we are motivated by our own thoughts, we see beneficial results in long run.

Self-motivation is the personal drive that keeps a person moving and in achieving the goals. It is one of different types of motivations where the person himself is the motivator.

Not every person can be a self-motivator as it is a personal trait. Self-motivation is the quality of a person, of an individual. Such people differ from others in many ways.

  1. They love themselves. 
  2. They know who they are and what they can do. They are self driven. 
  3. They know what is good for themselves. They value themselves. 
  4. They keep small goals that they can actually achieve.
  5. They have a company of people that are like minded, positive, and motivate each other.
  6. They keep themselves away from toxic and negative minded people.
  7. They have a different perspective of life and see positive things even in difficult times.
  8. They push themselves through difficult situations and always look for solving problems. They have a problem solving attitude. 
  9. They have a positive attitude towards life.
  10. They never stop learning.

Self-motivation helps us to manage and achieve our goals in life. Self- motivation makes the life easy to live and gives a different prospective towards the challenges of life. The biggest question is how can we keep ourselves motivated even at difficult times? Let’s explore this.

Love Yourself

What we often forget to do is to lover ourselves. We frequently say to others how much we love them but we forget to tell this to ourselves. So, the first thing that we need to do, is to love ourselves.

I know I am not perfect. Who wants to be? I am happy with my flaws. I accept the way I am and I love myself for that.

There should not be any confusion between self love and self-obsession. Self love is not self-obsession. Obsession to anything is not considered good. Self love means caring yourself, and respecting your decisions. If you do not love yourself, you cannot love others. You are responsible for your own happiness, so start loving yourself.

Believe In Yourself

Believing in what we are and what we can do is important. We must have firm belief in what we think and what we are doing. If we do not believe in ourselves no one else will believe us.

Making goals is important part of life and we should always make smaller goals. This helps us keep motivating and moving. Small goals also help is from procrastination.

Stick To Your Goals

Once you have made your goal, stick to it. We should always respect what we have planned and should try to complete it in the given time. Albert Einstein once said “If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.” 

Have A Good Company

What we are also depends on with whom we often spend our time. People surrounded with negative minded people tend to have negative views. So, its important to know whom we should hang up with. Always keep yourself surrounded with people who think like you. People who are self-motivated also motivate others to achieve their goals in life. Always make friends with people who want to do something in their lives.

Stop Overthinking

Thinking is a good quality. We should always think before doing something. This helps us in doing right things in life. But overthinkingis not good. Overthinking on small things deviates us from our goals. Overthinking leads to negative thinking and we get stuck in our own thoughts.

Be A Problem Solver

Self-motivated people do not ask question “why“. They often ask “how“. They believe in solving a problem rather that thinking about the problem itself. Sometimes, “why this happened to me” has no answer but “how will I come out of it” has. So rather discussing the problem discuss the solution.Try to solve the problem and be a problem solver. 

This is something that I learned from my husband. Whenever we have any difficult situation in our life, I start complaining while he starts thinking as how to come out of that difficult situation.

Be A Learner

This is something I always believe in. We should never stop learning. Learning keeps us moving and motivating. We can learn everyday from our day to day problems or from other people. 

Be A Positive Person

Positivity plays an important role in our lives. When we start looking at any situation with positive mind, half of the problem is solved automatically. We should always look for good things even in bad situations. This keeps us motivated and gives a positive attitude towards solving that problem.
