Hello Friends,
Chaitra Navratri is here and I’m super excited!! For those who don’t know, Navratri is a Hindu festival celebrated over nine nights (and ten days) to honor the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
Chaitra Navratri is also known as Vasant Navratri and it marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Today is the first day of Chaitra Navratri also known as “Ekam” or “Prathma” meaning first.
Since it’s the first day of Chaitra Navratri, I wish you all a very happy new year and Shubh Chaitra Navratri.
During these nine days, people worship the nine avatars of Goddess Durga, also known as Navdurga. Each day is dedicated to a different form of the goddess, and devotees observe fasts, perform puja, and offer prayers to seek blessings.

Shailputri is the first form of Goddess Durga, and she is worshiped on the first day of Chaitra Navratri. Maa Shailputri symbolizes strength, courage, and the power of nature. According to Hindu scriptures, she was born as the daughter of Himalaya (the mountain king), (“Shaila” = Mountain, “Putri” = Daughter) and was destined to marry Lord Shiva.
Mata Shailputri rides a bull (Nandi), symbolizing her control over desires and ego. Her two hands represent the balance between spiritual and material life.
My husband and I also celebrate this festival, do puja, and follow all rituals. These nine days are considered auspicious in Hindu calendar and we pray to the Goddess for her blessings.
May Maa Durga bless us with good health and prosperity.
Shubh Chaitra Navratri!!!
