Don’t you think, we are blessed in whatever we have?
Don’t you think we are blessed with what we are?
Truly we are.
We are blessed.
But sometimes we might complain that we have less than others. It’s true, no two persons are equally blessed. Yet everyone is blessed differently.
God created everything. He created the sun, the planets, the stars, etc. He also created plants, animals, us; and other living organisms. He created different organisms and gave different abilities to everyone. He created us and bestowed us with lots of blessings.
The problem comes when we start comparing. When we compare our lives with others, when we compare our looks with others or when we compare our finances with others, life becomes hell. If we are satisfied with what we have, we will be the happy soul. But being happy is not easy because we often compare ourselves with others.
This post is just a little effort to remind each one of us that we are blessed. I am putting here two short stories that might help us in understanding how blessed we are.
Story 1: A Rose Plant and A Cactus
There was a rose plant and a cactus plant planted in two different pots but placed close to each other. The rose plant had gorgeous roses on it so it ought to be a little arrogant and rude. On the other hand, the cactus was spongy, with lots of thorns and thought it is ugly but it was happy and never complained. Since rose plant stood beautifully in front of cactus plant, it always made fun of the cactus plant but the cactus plant never ever complained about the rose plant.
After few months, it was hot summer, the rose plant needed water to survive. Its leaves started to droop and the flowers wilted. But the cactus was blessed because it had no leaves so it needed very less water. Rose plant was blessed with beautiful and scented flowers and the cactus pant was blessed with its ability to withstand the scarcity of water.
Moral of the Story: The rose plant and the cactus plant were blessed differently. A rose plant cannot be a cactus and a cactus cannot be a rose plant even if they keep on trying for lifetime.
Story 2: A Crow and A Peacock
Once upon a time, there lives a crow in a forest who was happy with his living and never complained about anything. But one day the crow saw a white swan. It was amazed to see the impeccable beauty of the swan. It went close to the swan and asked that how proud the swan would be to be the most beautiful bird in the world.
The swan said that he also thought the same until it met a green parrot. The crow then went in search of the parrot. The crow expressed the beauty of parrot but parrot told the crow that the most beautiful bird on this earth is a gorgeous peacock.
The crow then went to see the peacock in a zoo. It was surprised to see the beauty of this gorgeous bird. The crow asked the peacock as to how it feels to be so gorgeous. The peacock wasn’t happy. It said that due to this beauty only it is in this zoo. If it wasn’t a peacock and a crow, it wouldn’t had been in this cage.
This is the irony. We are never satisfied with what we have. We keep looking for more and more. We keep looking at others and think why i have less than him or her.
Moral of the story: Be satisfied with what you have. You are blessed in a different way.
Satisfaction is the key that unlocks the door to happiness.
The more satisfied we are with our lives the more happy we are. The more we take care of what we actually have than looking for other things, the more happy we are. The more we concentrate on our abilities and work towards their improvement, the more happy we are. The more we feel blessed about ourselves, the more happy we are.
It is important to acknowledge and show gratitude for what we have. It is very important to be thankful everyday for how much blessed we are. Regretting and blaming are negative thoughts. So, we shouldn’t indulge into these. Praising the Lord and thanking Him for whatever He had blessed us with, is the only means to happiness.
What are your thoughts on this? How do you show your gratitude towards what you have. Please pen down your thoughts in the comment section. I would be more than happy to hear from you.
Very true!! Good post
Thank you ☺️
