Today is April 2nd, 2025. Every first Wednesday of April is celebrated as National Walking Day to encourage the benefits of walking.
National Walking Day was created by American Heart Association to improve heart health of Americans of all ages by walking.

This month, I will be sharing the benefits of walking to contribute to this cause in my way.
Do you know that average walking speed of a human is 3.1 miles per hour?
This is the average walking speed of a human. My walking speed is little bit less than the average walking speed.
Benefits of Walking
Walking is beneficial. It’s not a secret anymore. There are so many research work to prove the benefits of walking.
Walking just for 20 minutes everyday can give all the benefits of walking.

Let’s list the benefits of walking:
- Strengthens muscles: Walking everyday for 20 mins can improve your muscle strength.
- Controls Cholesterol Levels: Walking everyday can lower your cholesterol levels.
- Regulates Blood Pressure: Research has shown that walking everyday can regulate your blood pressure especially for people with hypertension.
- Reduce Stress: I cannot stress more on this. Walking is a go-to mechanism to reduce stress. If you are stressed, do for a walk.
- Delays Aging: When all your senses work perfectly, aging gets delayed. Walking everyday keeps you healthy and rejuvenates your mind, delaying aging.
- Boosts Immunity: When you are relaxed, your body is less inflamed. Less blood inflammation means your immune system is working properly. If you want to boost your immune system, walk everyday for 20 minutes.
- Improves Heart Health: Walking is directly related to your heart health. Walking everyday can improve your heart health by boosting your heartbeat.
- Burns Fat: Walking 10,000 steps everyday is an easy way to burn fat.
