Live, Learn and Grow

With summer finally arriving in my city, I see flowers blooming in everyone else’s balcony. Since my family arrived here last year in December, it wasn’t a good time to start gardening.

In the month of March, we decided to have some plants in our balcony. So we got a stem cutting of a rose plant and planted it in a pot. In the United States, we can’t use the soil from the fields or near by areas like we usually do in India. Here we have to buy pot mix soil that is a special soil used to grow plants in gardens or balconies.

We also sow some morning glory seeds in a pot. Until May, nothing showed up in both the pots. In the first week of May, thee was three seedlings in the morning glory pot and to our surprise the seedlings were grow really fast. Finally, yesterday we had three gorgeous flowers.

My kids were so happy to see the flowers. We were happy too. After all flowers don’t just bloom, they also bring happiness on our face. Isn’t it? In this post, I am sharing pictures of the flowers that are adding to the beauty of my balcony.

Now I also have a holy basil plant in my balcony that my husband brought from Indian store. So, in totality I have three pots in my balcony.

The slowest growing plant is the rose stem. It showed up few leaflets last week only. It was so much exciting to watch those little cuties opening up and growing that I clicked few pictures.

I will keep posting about my little rose plant, which is still very small to be called as a plant. I think it will take months for a bud to show up. For the first time I am so excited and waiting patiently for my rose plant to grow.

These days, I learned that gardening is also therapeutic. It’s good to take care of plants and see them growing. We grow with them and enjoy looking at them, caring for them everyday.

What plants are there in your balcony or patio? Do you like gardening? Please do share with me in the comment section. Stay tuned for more posts like this. Hope you all are doing good. Thank you for stopping by and reading this post.

We grow lavender, bib lettuce and cherry tomatoes on our deck. And have oregano, mint, and thyme in the garden. We just bought squash plants and will be planting garlic chive and peas too. I live gardening. My family used to also buy a rose bush every mother’s day. My mom died two years ago, and now when those roses come back each year i see their blooms and think of her.

Yes, we have indoor window box herbs, and a door leading from our dining room out to the deck for the others. We have almost 2 acres of land so a lot of room to plant.
