Don’t Quit

The words by John Greenleaf Whittier in the form of a poetry “Don’t Quit” are so apt in our day to day life. Whenever I read these lines, I feel motivated. It’s an inspirational and heart touching poem.

I first saw this poetry when I was doing my Ph.D. in 2015. Those who have done research work or are doing research work know that it’s a work full of commitment, dedication and hard labour for a long period of time. Some days will be full of enthusiasm while the other days will be pathetic. Time will come when you would think, this is not going to happen, I should quit my project, let’s leave it and try something better, etc etc. At that point of time, such good thoughts keeps you going.

One most important thing that I learned during my PhD is “Not to quit” or “To finish the work that you have started”.

“Don’t Quit” is applicable to any work that we do. Quitting should never be an option except for quitting a bad habit.

I hope you would like this post and find it motivating. I wish The poetry “Don’t Quit” by John Greenfield Whittier inspires you too to finish a work that you have started or thinking to start and never quit a work in the middle of it. You never know, a little push might have completed that work.

Thanks for stopping by and reading 🙏🏻🙏🏻.

Trust

Do you trust people easily? Do people trust you easily? Are these questions same or different? What is easy: to trust or to be trusted? Whether or not you trust someone or someone trusts you depends on many factors. What are those factors? Trust depends upon what type of person you are and what is your relationship with that person. Trust also depends on your behavior with that person in past.

The most important thing is to “Trust Yourself”. We should know whether we are capable of doing certain things or not. We are also sometimes confused whether our decisions are correct or not? So, first and foremost we should have trust in whatever step we take in our lives and move in a positive direction.

Next thing is to “trust your struggle”. Whatever has been our struggle we should be proud of the way we build ourselves with time. The struggle through which we have reached this place should always be appreciated. So, our struggle should always be trusted.

When you look for the dictionary meaning of trust, you will find “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something”. I believe that trust is a blind faith that we have in our parents, children, partner and friends until and unless the trust is broken.

It’s very easy to destroy something but it takes years to build something. Same goes with trust too. You cannot trust a person in first visit. When the relationship grows deep the trust builds. It takes years to build a trust but it can be shattered to pieces in seconds. One lie or one incidence can shaken the trust between two people. Therefore, a hard earned trust should never be broken.

I don’t know, whether you will trust a person again if he/she has broken your trust once. With me, it’s really tough. For me, it’s hard to rebuild the trust in a person.

Trust is an asset. It should be treasured, not broken. People who trust you, care for you and love you. Never break a trust.

Please go to the website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) to know more about the virus. You will get all information regarding the virus.

You can even share the link with others so that everyone knows about it and take preventive measures. Because prevention is better than cure.

Coloring with Prisma Color Pencils

Last year I started coloring as a new hobby and to be more creative. As I am just a beginner in coloring I used the basic, not so expensive pencil colors available in the market. I even shared those pictures on my post and many of you liked my coloring.

I also tried coloring with gel pens as I am obsessed with gel pens. Even if it comes to writing, I prefer gel pens over ball pens. So, I colored few pages with with gel pens and as supposed, the coloring done with gel pens were far brighter than that done with basic student coloring pencils.

Then, I came across Prisma colors and saw may You Tubers that are into adult coloring, giving good reviews about Prisma Colors. But, these Prisma colors are expensive, at least for a beginner. After few days, I found a trial kit of Prisma color available at Amazon.com at lesser price. So, I grabbed the deal and bought the colors.

I was so excited about these pencils, that I started coloring with them as soon as I received them. I was surprised to see the difference in the color pencils that I was using earlier and the Prisma colors. The Prisma color pencils are easy to apply, bright in color and appear vibrant on paper. I fall in love with these color pencils.

Till now, I have colored. Only two pages with these pencils as I am really busy in other things. I am sharing my colored pages here. Please let me know, what do you think about my color combinations and coloring. Whether I should continue with this as a hobby or not.

If you are also interested in adult coloring or whatsoever related to coloring, please give a try to these pencils for once. Just to share, this is not a sponsored post. The views and opinions are entirely mine.

Thank you for stopping by and reading the post.

The Coronaviruses abbreviated as CoV are zoonotic (transmitted from animals to humans) and belong to the family Coronaviridae. These viruses are not new for a microbiologist but has recently gained popularity due to the epidemic in China. Corona virus is a large viral family causing common cold in humans and even severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

Symptoms include fever, cough, congestion, sneezing, runny nose and breathing difficulties. Severe symptoms include pneumonia, kidney failure and even death.

Why is it Named So?

Corona means crown. Coronavirus is a crown shaped (spherical) virus. It is an enveloped virus that has single-stranded RNA. The envelop has spike like projections.

What are Different Types of Coronaviruses?

Since coronavirus family includes different types of coronaviruses some of the major diseases causing coronaviruses include:

  1. SARS CoV – Originated in China, 2003
  2. MERS CoV – Originated in Saudi Arabia, 2012
  3. 2019 n-CoV – Originated in China, 2019

“On 31 December 2019, WHO was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology (unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. A novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was identified as the causative virus by Chinese authorities on 7 January.”WHO

Recently, on February 11, 2020 WHO has given an official name to 2019 n-CoV (novel Coronavirus) as COVID-19. Therefore, the 2019-nCoV is now officially known as COVID-19.

What are Symptoms of Coronaviral Infection?

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

How to Avoid Zoonotic Viral Transmission?

Like SARS, MERS coronavirus is also transmitted from animals to humans. Thus, it becomes extremely important to follow some guidelines to avoid animal contact as a precautionary measure. WHO has some general recommendation as preventive measures to avoid Coronaviral infection. These recommendations are available on WHO website.

General Recommendations from WHO:

  • Avoiding unnecessary contact with the live animals and animal products.
  • Washing hands with soap and water after touching any animals and animal products.
  • Avoiding touching body parts such as eyes, nose, lips, or mouth with hands, after touching wild animals.
  • Avoiding touching animal wastes, spoiled animal products, products contaminated with animal wastes and fluids with bare hands.
  • Strictly avoiding contact with wildlife animals such as bats, stray dogs and cats, rodents and even birds).
  • Avoiding consuming raw or under-cooked animal products.
  • Avoiding cross-contamination with uncooked food.
  • The consumption of raw or under-cooked animal products should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.

What is Known about 2019-nCoV (recently named as COVID-19)?

2019-nCoV is a new coronavirus and very little is known about this virus till date. Based on the current knowledge scientists believe that this virus is similar Coronavirus that is transmitted to humans via different animal species such as camels, cats, bats and cattle.

It spreads from one person to another by physical contact or close contact (about 6 feet) (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/transmission.html). It is a highly contagious disease spread by respiratory droplets from infected person.

Doodling Again

This is my second attempt f doodling. I tried doodle faces, doodle love, and doodle flowers. Doodling is a fun. The more you do, the more you like it. It’s easy to learn and with practice the designs come spontaneous in mind.

Sometimes you might think that it’s hard to doodle but when you try it, the results that you get are amazing.

Here are some doodles I made. I hope you would like it.

Emoticons are fun to draw and watch. This was my first time making faces and these really came up well. There are various other emoticons too that I will try to include in my next post.

Every one of us might have made heart shape sometimes in our lives. These are easy to make and look pretty.

Flowers are pretty, refreshing and lively. I attempted to make different types of flowers on this page. I really enjoyed experimenting and the result was beautiful.

Let me know, which one is your favorite, you liked these doodles or not. Please feel free to pen down your thoughts in the comment section below. Thank you for stopping by and reading 📖.
