Happy Basant Panchami

I wish all my readers and fellow bloggers a very happy Basant (Vasant) panchami.

Basant means Spring season and panchami means Fifth day. As this festival is celebrated on the fifth day of Magha (a Hindi month) the word panchami comes. So Basant panchami basically means celebrating the onset of the most beautiful season, the spring season where the nature is at its best with best coloured flowers and leaves everywhere.

On this day, Hindus also worship Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge. May Goddess Saraswati bestow is with good education and health.

What we wear on this day? We generally wear yellow color on this day as yellow is the color for this colorful month and as beautiful as a big mustard field full of yellow mustard flowers.

How we celebrated this day? This festival is generally celebrated by children and students where they worship the Goddess by offering special puja. In my home, we also had a small picture of the Goddess and we did the puja and offered fruits and flowers. We also keep our notebooks, books and stationary items so that the Goddess can bless us with all her knowledge.

Lastly, I wish you all a very happy Basant panchami. Let’s celebrate the onset of the Spring season.
