Happy Makar Sankranti

Today is an auspicious day for Hindus. 14th and 15th January is considered as a special day from where all festivities starts. This day is celebrated by digger names in various regions of India.

I found this on social media and I found it worth sharing here. This picture shows all the names that represents the same festival. Makar Sankranti is celebrated all across the country.

Makar Sankranti is a festival to spread peace and prosperity. In India no festival is celebrated without some special food preparations. In Makar Sankranti too, many dishes are prepared throughout the country. Tilkut, a sweet delicacy made up of jaggery and sesame seeds is a special dish today. Flattened rice, jaggery and yogurt are consumed together in breakfast or lunch. Pongal is another dish prepared with rice, moong dal, and jaggery.
