Do we really think before putting anything in our mouth? If yes, that’s good. Do we really stop eating anything that is not good for us or our health? If yes, you are living a healthy life. We often know what is right and what is not, but then also we do. This is because, we actually do not take care of ourselves.
What we put in our mouth is what goes inside our body and determines or health. But how many times do we take care of what are we eating. We just eat because we like it. We eat because it is tasty. We are concerned more about “how the food tastes” than “how its going to effect our health”.
Unhealthy eating is an example of unhealthy lifestyle. First and foremost thing to do when we are concerned about our lifestyle is to change our eating habits.
What we eat, how we eat, how much we eat and when we eat are important aspects. But today we do not take care of these things. We eat food while watching TV or while using cell phones. We never eat alone and spend time only with the food while eating. Scientific studies prove that distractions while eating leads to less absorption of nutrients.
We eat as if we are in a hurry. We have to just fill our stomach and its done. We need fast food. We try to eat fast fast, giving the least importance to the food. What will be the result of this. When we give least importance to what is building our body, we will have an unhealthy body.
We need to understand that food is primary thing for the existence of a human body. Food is the fuel that our body needs to work and carry out various important functions. Eating right is an utmost necessity.
It we eat right in right amount and at the right time, half of the problems of our health is solved. Now, eating right means eating nutritive food, home cooked food, avoiding processed food, avoiding too much sugary and too much salty food. Eating right amount of food includes the calories that we intake.
How much calories a human body needs depends upon a number of factors such as age, sex, height, physical activity, etc. So, it varies from one person to another and depending upon our BMI (Body Mass Index) we need to find it out.
Now, eating at right time totally depends upon the schedule of a person. In general, scientists suggest that breakfast should never be avoided as it is the most important part of our diet. Some people like having their breakfast while some start eating from the afternoon. People who follow intermittent fasting follow a different eating cycle. What suits you is your right time of eating but there should be a routine and should be followed strictly.
A healthy mind can live only in a healthy body. As it is said “A sound mind in a sound body”. Thus, eating right is extremely important for a healthy body and a healthy mind. If we want our mind and body to work in a proper coordination, first thing we need to do is to eat right.
